Though I was a bit let down by their live set, this album has remained technical yet psychedelic fun.

8. Friendly Fires - Friendly Fires
The switch from moody to funky tracks is extremely enjoyable.

7. John Murphy & Underworld - Sunshine
A soft, stressful, bath of an ambient album that once again shows Murphy's versatility as a composer.

6. M83 - Saturdays = Youth
I wrestled with this album so many times, but in the end I'm just as confused about why I like cheesy, enyaesque Graveyard Girl as I was when I first heard it.

5. Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours
An album bursting at the seams with new and retro pop energy that made me smile for a good two months.

4. Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
The sad singer/songwriter that I'm in no way embarrassed to love.

3. El Ten Eleven - These Promises Are Being Videotaped
An evolved, truly indie, dance/mood album that has been pocketed as my secret gem.

2. Death Cab For Cutie - Narrow Stairs
The last Death Cab concert I attended was a complete disappointment. Hopefully, my once favorite band will move toward the avante garde to regain their lost appreciators and right the errors of appearing on teen-drama television. But until then, I'll just drift off to their beautiful instrumentals.

With ethereal vocal counterpoint, subtle chord progressions, and deeply personal live shows they get better with every listen.
